A letter to my 2012 self
Dear Haley
2012 was a busy year I am still not sure you have really stopped to take a breath and rest. Maybe it is time!
You were given one of the trips of your dreams, even though you moved to the USA 8 years ago you still didn't have the Faith to believe you would ever actually get to New York City. Then your husband swept you off your feet one night and told you he was taking you to NYC for your birthday. You know what you said "No Way". Girl you need to trust more and have more faith that good things to happen. That trip was something so special!
Another thing you ever thought would happen, see a pattern here! You moved out of Illinois. You knew in your heart it wasn't really the right place for your family, you knew you wanted to be somewhere where the sun would shine more and you could get outside and enjoy life. Well another thought and dream turned into something real and you got to move to a wonderful new place and start a new adventure with your family. Your family is thriving. You are blessed !
You ran 3 5k races, THREE. For someone who never thought they would ever ran that is not too shabby. And even though you miss your running partner there is so much more running your body has to do, so get back into it!
The time you spent with your family was so precious, you fought down another fear and took your then four year old on a very very long plane trip. You moved through LAX airport with efficiency and skill like you had done it every day. You dealt with your boy who didn't want to sleep even though it was 2am in your home town and you survived being awake that long yourself, even if you did sneak a coke . You treated that little boy with patience and grace. Once you got to your family you savored every minute. And when you had to get back on that plane to go back to your husband in the USA and a new home, you didn't cry. You were stronger than you had ever been.
You are a strong woman, you have dealt with the changes this year and took them in your stride. You have made new friends and found work where there wasn't any. You have grown your marriage and seen your child off to kindergarten. You have put your health and body a priority and have been the healthiest you have ever been.
And through all this you have calmed the ocean of anxiety and depression that has sometimes ruled you. You have bought peace to your mind through just getting out there and being who you really are and taking huge leaps!
2012 was good to you and you were good to it. Your world is your Oyster now go get it!
